If you want to keep up to date on what we're working on and give input into future content, join the
Official RuneScape: Dragonwilds Discord.
Since RuneScape: Dragonwilds launched in Early Access, we’ve been blown away by the sheer creativity and craftsmanship the community has shown in basebuilding, constructing everything from sprawling fortresses to intricate architectural marvels! While our content team continues to forge ahead on our massive Fellhollow update, with new enemies, armours, weapons, bosses, etc, the systems team has been hard at work on something we know builders will love: Creative Mode.
Creative Mode is coming with the 0.9 Update. I grabbed Mod Deluxe, Principal UX Designer, to talk through what the mode consists of and, of course, what options we're giving you to customise your experience.
Hi everyone, Mod Deluxe here.
All of your creations ranging from massive behemoths to small intricate bases have blown us away. Seeing your builds on our socials is an absolute treat and we want to see more!
We know you're eager to build bigger, more complex and just downright architectural marvels of bases, so we're introducing Creative worlds to make it happen.
Creative worlds are a place where you can build to your hearts content without any limitations or survival friction. So let's dive into what creative worlds bring to the table.
Starting a creative world
You will now be able to choose what type of game world you want before creating a world.
There will be the Campaign game world experience that is currently present in the game and the Creative game world to choose from.
You will also need to create a new Creative character to be able to jump into a Creative world. Creative world characters can only join creative worlds. Your Campaign characters will not be able to join Creative worlds.
We will also be increasing the number of character slots from 4 to 8 to accommodate the new Creative world characters.
Creative world settings
Within creative world we've removed a lot of survival friction elements in order to provide a relaxing and uninterrupted building experience.
Building
All Building pieces will be unlocked.
Buildings will not have any material costs.
Infinite carry weight.
Crafting
All crafting recipes will be unlocked.
No material cost for crafting.
Skills
All skills will be maxed.
No rune costs for spells.
No cooldown for spells.
No rune costs for Lodestone usage.
Environment and Survival
Hunger, Thirst and Endurance will always be full.
No world events (Dragon attacks and Hunted event)
AI will not attack.
These settings are inherent to creative worlds. But that's not all.
Stability
Stability is tied into the type of foundation you use in your building, the better the material the higher you can build.
With future updates you can be assured that new building pieces will allow you to build taller structures in Campaign worlds.
But that shouldn't prevent you from having fun in Creative worlds.
In Creative worlds you will be able to toggle stability On or Off when creating your world.
We want you to show off your creativity with no holds barred, but also have the opportunity to plan and experiment complex realistic builds before recreating them in your Campaign worlds.
Hopefully Creative worlds should give you plenty of room for fun and experimentation. Show us what you got!
Creative world is not the only experience that's coming in for 0.9, so keep a lookout when you're taking a break from building, you'll hear from me again soon.
Cheers!
Mod Deluxe
Thanks, Mod Deluxe! We're so excited to hear what you're going to be building, creating and decorating. We'll continue to grow and develop the mode with more building pieces, more decorations, more defensive structures and so much more with every major update, every quarter, delivering new stuff for you to get involved with.
As always, we want to see your brilliant builds, creative constructions and triumphant treehouses - to do that, we've got a dedicated channel over in the Official RuneScape: Dragonwilds Discord, as well as our Reddit. We're on Twitter, BSky, Instagram, Facebook, Twitch, YouTube and TikTok too! We'd love to showcase some of your awesome creations on socials, too.
