It’s really happening!

For over a year since our announcement, thousands upon thousands of you have been asking: “Console, when?!” and we finally have an answer! We’re launching on Playstation 5 later this year, alongside our 1.0 release! We’re using a lot of exclamation marks because we’ve been keeping this a secret for so long, we’re very excited!  

That’s not all – if you’ve got an active Playstation Plus Extra or Premium subscription, you’ll be able to play the game for absolutely free on release - apart from the subscription thing.  

“I’m so up for this!” I hear you say. Well, the next step is to wishlist us! Even if you’re thinking of picking us up down the line, a wishlist means the world to us. Not only does it give you a notification when we release – saving you the hassle of checking – it also makes us feel all warm and fuzzy. I know, I can hardly believe I'm typing that too. RuneScape! On console! This is a huge first for us as a team, and a series of games, and a sign that we’re approaching the 1.0 release and the end of Kuldra’s Saga.

First time seeing Dragonwilds? Did ya get the tinglies? Yeah me too, I get goosebumps just thinking about it. Well, let’s give you a rundown of what you can look forward to later this year.  

You’re an adventurer arriving on the long-forgotten continent of Ashenfall, in the distant edges of the world we know as RuneScape! Stranded after a close encounter with a Dragon General, you’ll need to gather resources, craft tools and weapons, build shelter and level up to survive, alone or with up to 3 friends. Grind 13 distinct skills all the way to level 99, track down and slay dragons, use magical Skill Spells to master your environment and embark on quests rich with the iconic lore of RuneScape!  

We’ve built ourselves up through Early Access with our community since Spring 2025 – as is Jagex tradition, we’ve worked with players from the outset to refine, guide and build the future of this game from the moment we announced it. And our community is the best in the world! We’re not biased, promise. Still want to know more about what we’ve added? No problem. When’s it out?  

We’ve not told you everything just yet about our launch across multiple platforms yet, and we’ve not let you in on the exact release date. Sorry, close that “Time off work” tab for now. Trust us, we’ll have news very very soon on the release date.
