Hello again!
Hello again! We recently sat down with Mod Debris, Lead Audio Designer, to talk about Audio. RuneScape's music is iconic, and we know how many of you love your Sea Shanties, your Newbie Melodies and your Harmonies. We do too! But now, we want to add music that YOU want to hear, in the RuneScape: Dragonwilds style we've come to love. Mod Debris has this to ask you:
Help needed for your friendly neighbourhood Audio Lead! We’re looking to add an area music track to play in the swamps (one track to cover both Whispering and Bloodblight Swamps) and of course we want to draw inspiration from the repertoire of RuneScape classics, and rework it in the RSDW style. Like we already have in the game with Harmony, Born to Do This and a few other sneaky stings (have you picked out all of them yet?).
Could we please get some suggestions for an OSRS track that would be a good accompaniment to wading through sludge and dodging its putrid fauna?
Some things to bear in mind:
We’ll be using similar instruments to what you hear in the soundtrack at the moment. Clicky-clacky, organic, earthy.
The swamps are murky, yucky and sinister. We can twist and shape old classics to fit with this vibe, but the more we need to do that, the less recognisable they will be to the original- so tunes like Gnomeball and Mudskipper Melody might not be the best fit!
We’ve got more classic tunes in the pipeline for you for different settings within the game, so don’t feel you need to suggest a big number you feel is missing from the soundtrack that doesn’t fit the swampy vibe in order to get it in. We'll be adding more tracks all the time!
Can’t wait to hear what you come up with!
